Procedure
Upon arrival all entrants must pay the entrance fee ($20 for competing vehicles and driver, and $10 for spectators) and sign a waiver. If you are not 18 years of age then the waiver must be signed by your parent or guardian. Each entrant will be provided with a wrist band that must be worn at all times. Any person found not to be wearing a wrist band will be ejected from the event. Competing drivers will also be provided with a tech sheet which should be filled out accordingly. Please note: A tech sheet is needed for each vehicle that enters the track. Therefore, if you are driving more than one car then each vehicle owner must pay $20 to receive a tech sheet. The tech sheet will contain a section where the driver declares what class they will be competing in and there will be a description of allowed modifications listed (also listed in the Classes section below). After preparing the car (see Tech Inspection below) the driver should proceed to tech inspection where they will be assigned a number should the vehicle pass the tech inspection procedure. The driver should then either return to the pits or proceed to the track if the track is open. There will be no running order and there is no limit on the amount of runs made.
Classes
Street Stock Includes all normally aspirated Ford cars and all Ford trucks (regardless of induction method). Cars must be sporting non R compound tires (drag radials are accepted).
Street Modified Includes all Ford cars with forced induction and all Ford vehicles equipped with extensive suspension modifications. Cars must be sporting non R compound tires (drag radials are accepted).
Race Designated for all Ford vehicles that have either been specifically prepared for open track racing and/or vehicles equipped with R compound tires.
Non Ford All vehicles that do not carry the Ford brand name.
Tech Inspection
All vehicles must pass Tech Inspection before they will be allowed to enter the track. Tech inspection will consist of the following:
Drivers floor mat removed
Battery securely mounted
Working seatbelts
Working return spring on accelerator
Working brakes
Wheel center caps removed
All lug nuts present on all wheels
All objects (including sub woofers unless securely mounted) removed from
both the cabin and the trunk
Track Rules
Each occupant of the vehicle must wear a helmet while on track and all windows should be in the down position. All occupants must also wear their seatbelts. The driver should pull on to the track and approach the start line where they will come to a complete stop. The driver is only clear to start their run after they have been informed to do so by one of the track officials. There will be 2 cars on track at each time at approximately 25 second intervals. A penalty of 2 seconds will be incurred for each cone struck during the run. Any attempt to circumnavigate the cones will result in a Did Not Finish (DNF) and a warning from the staff. The cones will be positioned both for your safety and ours. Any stunts or excessive speeding in the pits will not be tolerated and will result in immediate disqualification and possible ejection from the event. All drivers must be aware of track workers at all times and must follow their directions explicitly. If, for any reason, one of the track workers interrupts your run (due to a stalled car on track, for example) then the driver will be directed back to the start line rather than the back of the line in the pit area and will be able to immediately restart their run once the officials have given the all clear.
Food & Drink
Food (BBQ) and drink will be provided for free for all entrants to the event, and will be available at any time throughout the event. Unfortunately, we can not cater for vegetarians so prior food arrangements should be made. Alcohol will not be served and any drivers observed consuming alcohol will no longer be allowed to enter the track.
Trash
Unfortunately, the Blimp Base has no trash facilities. Where possible, we would appreciate it if you could take your trash with you when you leave. The owner of the track insists that we clean it before we leave and failure to do so could result in us losing track privileges in the future, so any help would be appreciated.
General
It will be extremely hot on the day of the event. The current forecast suggests temperatures in the mid 90s but, combined with the humidity, it will probably feel more like the low 100s. Although refreshments will be provided it is still advisable to bring water with you as well as sun screen. Hats are always a good idea too, along with insect repellant. We will have a cool area available for those who fall foul to the effects of the heat but prevention is far better than the cure. It is also possible that it will rain at some point during the day, so it would be advisable to prepare for that. If it does rain then it should only be for a short period and the track will dry out quickly. If the rain is persistent then we will continue to run the event until we deem the track unsafe for further racing.
If there should be any problems, regardless of the severity, then please locate a member of staff (they will be wearing STAFF shirts) and bring it to their attention. We have not quite reached the levels of perfection yet, but we are trying hard to make the event both fun and safe for all attending and welcome both praise and criticism.
