StangBang is a gathering of members of  www.FordPower.net. This is the second annual event and should promise to be even more fun than last year. If your not familiar with StangBang please read the below event information. Attendance is expected to almost double that of last year as our group has grown considerably.

I have 20 Double Bed/Non-Smoking rooms blocked @$62.00/night + tax for 6/20/03-6/23/03. You may check out early if you wish without penalty.

You will need to call the hotel directly and ask for the group name of Ross Gonzales to get a room at the discounted rate. For all of you smokers, you may want to inquire about getting a smoking room when you call. I think they blocked the rooms as non-smoking.

RENTAL CAR DISCOUNTS

The Bingle rd. Enterprise Rent-a-car location has agreed to do special rent-a-car rates for StangBang. Thursday to Monday is 60 + tax, Friday to Monday is $45 + tax. Its basically $15 per day and you can get a car from a compact to full size at this rate depending upon availability. To receive this Discount you need to call 713-647-9550 and ask for Erich Lim.

We will be meeting at Hooters on I-45 & Nasa Rd 1 at 10:00am. Around 10:30am we will depart for our trip to Galveston/Crystal Beach. Our trip will take us down I-45 to the seawall and over the ferry. We will have some type of food at the event, but you must bring your own drinks. On the trip back from Galveston we will stop at an unnamed location for dinner. Last years cruise attracted around 70 cars, we are expecting well over 100 this year.

We have once again rented the AutoX/Road Race course in Hitchcock at the old blimp base. Gates will open at 10:00am and racing will begin shortly after. Currently admission is set at $10 for spectators and $20 for Racers.

Food and drinks will be provided along with a drawing for prizes and a burnout contest.

Schedule:
9 AM – Gates open
9:30 AM – Beginner’s driving class hosted by NASA
10 AM – Track opens for practice runs (times displayed, but not logged)
12 AM – Competition begins (times will be logged)
3 PM – End of competition and commencement of burnout contest
3:30 PM – Awards ceremony and door prize announcement
4:00 PM - Fun runs for the rest of the day.

We will once again be heading out to Houston Raceway Park for some 1/4 mile racing. This will be your chance to talk smack and back it up. Sundays at HRP is street racing night so your times will not be displayed, but you will recieve a slip with your time. More details on meeting locations and times will follow soon.

4:00 - Gates open at HRP
5:30 – All entrants should be parked and ready to show
6:00 – Voting begins
7:00 – Voting ends. Please have all forms returned to Marc Klein. (txgti)
7:30 – Votes will e tallied, and winners announced.

Voting - Voting is by entrants in the car show. You must enter a car to vote. Your ballot will be given to you when you register.

Winners – The top 3 vote getters will be the winners. There is a plaque for each winner, and a prize for the top vote getter
