  • Magden Automotive Optmizes Mustang Monitoring

Magden Automotive M.1b for Ford Mustang

There are a lot of products in the aftermarket providing the ability for a Ford Mustang owner to monitor air flow, fuel pressure, and the like, but very few provide the real-time coverage of up to fifteen car operations. Magden Automotive has just the tool for the trade, with the release of the M.1b. It is a state of the art on-board computer system that monitors, displays (via any LCD screen), and data logs everything that the ECU accesses. With an easy application and interface, this is one electronic component tuning gurus will not want to be without! Check out the full story in the Press Release.

  • The Boys from Livernois Unleash the GT800R

    Livernois Motorsports GT800R

Well, there is one thing for sure when it comes to the Mustang aftermarket; it is always producing specialties and one-offs that are born crowd pleasers. Enter the GT800R, modified by the crew at Livernois Motorsports. Equipped with enough aftermarket add-ons to get to over 800, yes, 800 horsepower, this modified Shelby takes on what the GT500KR has...and then some. During one test run on a DynoJet, the GT800R produced a whopping 814 hp and 751 ft-lbs of torque! Keep reading to see the photos, modifications, and also a video of the car in action.

  • "Project B" Mustang to Debut at SEMA 2008

    Project B Mustang

Next month, there will be a somewhat mysterious Mustang concept unveiled at the SEMA show. The folks at Galpin Auto Sports will uncover their "Project B" concept that is based off the current Ford Mustang platform. Not many details are known at this point, but we have heard that the car is powered by the Mustang V8, which is stroked to a 5.0-liter and equipped with twin superchargers. The rims are 24 inches in the rear and 22 inches up front, attempting to cover up the massive 16-inch Wilwood brakes. Rumor has it that this concept will also feature Ford's second generation SYNC system. We'll have to wait and see to find out for certain. Until the SEMA show, the renderings and photos will have to keep us satisfied. Take a look!

  • Ford Uncovers the 2010 Mustang Dash & Cluster

2010 Ford Mustang dash and instrument cluster

After seeing the front fender and side view mirror, Ford has decided to take us back inside the 2010 Mustang to show us the updated perspective every owner will soon be very familiar with.  Looking out toward the front from the pilot's view, we can see a nice presentation of the steering wheel with the updated running horse logo in the center.  What is most noticeable to today's S197 owner is that the retro-styled air vents have now been replaced with traditional slotted ones. Hmm, we rather fancied the circular outlets--they were a great throwback to the Classic era.  Additionally, the tachometer is finally back on the right side, as it is on the current Shelby GT500.  Take a good look at the image we have shared out for you and then stop into our forums and let us know what you think!

  • Ford MyKey System to Limit Mustangs?

    Ford Mustang MyKey

Could the legendary Ford Mustang get a new bridle to harness its power in order to promote safe driving by those less responsible?  It just might, if the program expands across the entire Ford fleet.  Starting in the 2010 model year, Ford will roll out the MyKey feature for several of its automobiles.  The key contains a computer chip that communicates with the on-board systems in order to control speed limitations, audio system volumes, and even more annoying "fasten seat belt" alerts.  Think this sounds crazy?  To most parents, who often equip their teen drivers with performance cars, the idea sounds fantastic.  Right now, the concept is just a rumor for the 2010 Mustang, but if the popularity grows for the MyKey program, we could see this new bit used on future pony cars.  Fine by us...just make sure we have at least one "dumb" key available for the weekend.

  • Ford Mustang FR500 Cobra Jet Testing at Milan

Ford Mustang FR500 Cobra Jet at Milan

The popular nostalgic trend surrounding the Ford Mustang and its derivatives continues to push ahead with extreme force. This time, it's a throwback to the old 428 Cobra Jet Mustang that terrorized drag strips worldwide. Now, the Ford Mustang FR500 Cobra Jet factory drag car is alive and well, ready to exercise its purebred-inspired 5.4L DOHC V8, based upon the Shelby GT500 powerplant. With some increased boost and a stiff weight loss plan, this FR500CJ is ready to rip. Recently, the Cobra Jet was filmed at Milan DragWay and we have the video of it for you, as well as some hi-res shots of this drag racing beast. Check this venomous monster out!

  • Roush No. 59 Finishes Just Short of the 'W' in Season Finale

Roush No. 59 Comes up Less than a 1/4 second Shy in Season Finale

Close, but no cigar.  Sounds negative at first, but when you look at the opportunities seized, the Roush racers in the #59 Ford Mustang did quite well in the KONI Challenge season finale at Virginia International Raceway.  The team of three drivers (Jack Roush, Jr., Dean Martin, and Ryan Phinny) piloted the pony to a very successful finish, less than a quarter second shy of sweet victory.  After six grueling hours on the track, the Roush team held up strongly against the competition, with methodic position gains and overcoming chafed tires near the end.  Near the finish and after an ugly caution was lifted, Martin was forced to give up the lead to Rehagen Racing teammate Matt Plumb, who was just out with fresh rubber on his #60 Mustang.  Martin still kept with Plumb down to the finish and closed out the second closest finish in KONI Challenge history, a mere 0.208 seconds behind.  There is much more to the exciting event in store, so keep reading the full story in the official Press Release from Roush.

TechCo forms to create a Ford Mustang supercharger

A collection of the crew from Saleen Inc. has combined their efforts and formed a new organization titled TechCo. The focus of TechCo is to provide advanced, cutting-edge performance parts in the aftermarket arena. One of the inaugural products they have designed and produced is a twin-screw supercharger made specifically for the 4.6L V8 found in the Ford Mustang. The company also has blower units for Dodge's HEMI applications, as well as the LS engines found in the C5 and C6 Chevrolet Corvettes. First deliveries of their products are expected to begin shipping this month, so if you are anxious to order, keep reading to find out more about their offerings in the Press Release.

  • Ford Reveals 2010 Mustang Fender and Mirror

2010 Ford Mustang fender and mirror

The latest unmasking image of the 2010 Mustang from Ford is a quick frontline shot showing the side view mirror and the front fender. From what we can see, the rumors about some edges being smoothed seem to hold their weight based upon this sample. The 2010 hood appears to slope down toward the headlight bezel more than the present S197 Mustang and the front fender rolls to mate with the hood line in one smooth transition; a contrast from the current flare found on today's Mustang. The official debut at the LA Auto Show is just over a month and a half away, so Ford is making sure to let the cat out of the bag as slow as they can to ramp up the suspense. Until then...

    Ford Mustang movie production competition

Just over a month ago, we told you about a new video contest from Ford regarding a moviemaking contest about the Mustang. Now the true test comes for the remaining 10 finalists: the Mustang enthusiast community vote. That's right--you get to help make the final call to determine who the grand prize winner is.
