 They have arrived like an early Christmas present for Mustang fanatics around the country, the 2008 Ford Mustang and Shelby GT500 order guides began popping up on Mustang forums via Ford employees last week. The order guides typically come out this time every year just as the order banks open up for the 2008 models. Yes you read that right, the order banks as some like to call them are open and you can actually go down to your dealer and place an order for a 2008 Mustang even though the 2007 models are still in production. Below I will go through whats new for the 2008 model year.
The 2008 Ford Mustang is a carry over from the previous year with a few option additions and changes that I will breakdown. For the exterior paint three new colors are added and three are going away, Silver Clearcoat Metallic (YN) is replacing Satin Silver, Dark Candy Apple Red Clearcoat Metallic (JV) is replacing Redfire and Vapor Clearcoat Metallic (ZY) is replacing Tungsten. Major options added for 2008 include Ambient interior lighting (95M), HID headlamps (51H) and V6 Mustang Coupes will have the option of 18″ Premium Polished Forged Wheels. A new V6 Safety & Security Package will be offered that includes Anti-Lock Brakes, Traction Control, Active Anti-Theft System and a wheel locking kit. In the safety department side airbags are now standard on all 2008 model Mustangs. Another V6 package that will be offered is the Warriors In Pink Package (54S). The Warriors In Pink Mustangs will come standard with an Automatic transmission and only available in Black, Performance White and Silver Metallic. Also the Warriors In Pink package includes GT Leather Seats with Pink contrast stitching, IUP package steering wheel with Pink stitching, lower rocker tape stripe in Pink metallic, charcoal floormats with Pink trim and Pink embroidered ribbon and pony logo and a pony badge replaced by Pink ribbon with a pony in the middle of the ribbon. The California Special Package returns for 2008 in two of the three new colors, Dark Candy Apple Red and Silver Clearcoat Metallic. The 2008 Shelby GT500 is a carry over with the addition of HID headlamps and ambient lighting options. The 2008 model is available in one new color, Vapor Clearcoat Metallic (ZY). Other then those three changes nothing has changed for the Shelby GT500. No mention of the 2008 Bullitt or Boss Mustang in the order guides but Ford has confirmed the Bullitt will arrive as a 2008 model.
