What all is involved in installing a Strut Tower Brace (STB) on a car not factory equipped with one?

I have a stock STB from a 96 Cobra to install on my 98 Cobra.

It is not hard at all! Todd does your car already have the holes drilled for it? If not you will have to drill them. Also is it going to clear the blower?

Yes, the blower kit is designed to accomodate the STB since it's a 96-98 kit. I have test fitted it and it will clearance.

I have no holes on either the firewall or the towers.

Steeda's STB is a little different in the way it attaches to the firewall....it's actually easier than the factory if you don't already have the holes drilled and not many 98s did.

The places where the holes go on our 98s should already be dimpled out so you just need a good drill bit and a good tap/die set.

Shouldn't take you longer than a couple of hours.

I had no dimpled holes or anything to mark where to drill out. I had to take off the plastic window cowl and remove the black plastic along the back of the firewall.

Cut out the platic to accomodate the STB marked the holes, drilled, and bolted it up. It was easy ......even for me:D But then again mine was a Steeda also so you may be able to omit some steps.

it's not bad unless yer tryin to do it w/ a POS B&D 7.2V cordless drill and dull drill bits. it took me hours cause I would drill a hole and need to recharge. w/ a 18v cordless, new bits, and a dremel tool it can be done in an hour or two. basically, just drill 8 holes (3 in each strut tower, and 2 in the wiper cowl), cut the plastic molding, and bolt on.

An air drill is very helpful.

I have the Steeda STB. When I did mine I didnt cut the firewall panel like steeda says, I just drilled holes through it and bolted it in. Hopefully it wont make a difference.

Todd, when yer ready, I have an air drill and that will help tremendously.

Place the STB on your towers to test fit it. Make sure you put weight on the middle of the bars so it lines up right. Then mark the holes...hit them with a center punch so the bit doesn't walk on you, then drill away!
